Blog: Claiming Expenses During Ramadan
July 15, 2014
Many of our clients are now fasting as part of the holy month of Ramadan. One of our clients has asked if it's still possible to make their expense claim for subsistence given that they wont be eating or drinking during their normal working hours as it will be daylight?
Our response is that we have never heard of HMRC making any religious distinctions and that if you wish to continue to make the claim then do so. For example it may be that you purchase your breakfast and dinner as usual but eat it after sunset and before sunrise.
The final word is during Ramadan you CAN continue to claim expenses for subsistence.
