It's time to make your New Year's Resolution(s)!
December 31, 2015
Well we hope you have all survived the Christmas excesses and thought we’d like to share the top ten New Year’s Resolutions with you, many of which are never kept, but the sentiment is good none the less!
But why do so many people fail?
It is thought that the reason for failure is because too many people turn their New Year’s Eve resolution into a long list that becomes an extreme life makeover. Here at Carrington Umbrella we are all for setting high goals for yourself, but, “shooting for the moon” can be so psychologically daunting and “lift off” often fails before its begun.
Instead it is better to set one or two attainable goals.
So here is a list of the top ten most commonly made resolutions. REMEMBER, you don’t have to do all of them!;
1. Lose Weight
2. Get Organized
3. Spend Less, Save More
4. Enjoy Life to the Fullest
5. Staying Fit and Healthy
6. Learn Something Exciting
7. Quit Smoking
8. Help Others in Their Dreams
9. Fall in Love
10. Spend More Time with Family
So how do we make those Resolutions stick!
Set your Goals. Make this the year for success. No matter what you’ve done or failed to accomplish in the past, that was then and this is now!
Start by projecting forward and then thinking back. Project forward to the end of the next twelve months and ask yourself, “If everything happens perfectly, what will it look like?”
• Write down your goal.
• Write down a list of all the little steps you have to take to reach your goal.
• Prioritise those steps.
• Do something every day to take yourself along the steps towards your goal.
One thing that may help is a new CV. Watch out for our next blog which will give you some tips on CV writing.
Once again we wish you a very Happy New Year.
